​MEET Matt Silvers

​

W. Matthew Silvers is an Associate Professor in the Health Sciences department at Whitworth University and Event Director of the IronMay Challenge. He received his B.S. from Washington State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Idaho. While on the Palouse, Matt volunteered with the Cougar Athletics and Vandal Athletics Strength and Conditioning programs, served as the Head Cross Country Coach for Pullman high School, taught strength and conditioning courses for both universities, and served as the Race Director for several running and triathlon events. His personal and professional interests include running, triathlons, building bicycles, coaching endurance athletes, and researching unique cross training strategies for runners, such as aquatic treadmill running, cycle sprint training, and circuit resistance training. ​MEET Sharon Stoll

 

Sharon K. Stoll, the director of the Center for ETHICS* at the University of Idaho, is considered a leading authority in moral education intervention techniques for competitive adults and college aged students in America. Author of nine books including Practical Ethics in Sport Management and Sport Ethics: Applications for Fair Play, with Lumpkin & Beller. She has been featured on US TV "Night Line", "ESPN Sports Center", "ESPN Chat Line", and Fox Sports' "Goin' Deep". In 2005, she was in over 50 major newspapers in US and abroad describing the Center's project working with the Atlanta Braves, and in 2006 she was the front page story for the Chronicle of Higher Education. In 2007 and 2013, she was featured in Sports Illustrated. In 2007 and again in 2012, she was one of the 100 Most Influential Sport Educators in the United States by the Institute for International Sport. She can be reached at: sstoll@uidaho.edu.
